The Geology Section is currently not available to join here - please visit www.charnia.org.uk instead.

Membership of the Lit&Phil

  • You can hear lectures by leading national experts from a wide range of subjects spanning the arts and the sciences.  There are normally about twelve lectures each season. These are also available on Zoom.
  • You can attend the biennial Peach Memorial Lecture at the University of Leicester, which covers aspects of art, design, architecture and conservation.
  • The Annual Transactions of the Society – which contain summaries of the previous year’s talks are published on the website here. Upon request members can receive a paper copy of the Transactions.
  • Membership subscriptions are modest because of generous sponsorship by De Montfort University, Loughborough University, The University of Leicester, the British Science Association , The Royal Society of Chemistry, as well as memorial funds.

Membership of the Natural History Section

  • You get free entry to all Natural History Section events, including joint events with the parent body. Lectures are held monthly from October through to April, with guest speakers from outside the section as well as some of our own members.
  • You receive a twice-yearly members' newsletter with reports from field trips and news about natural history in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
  • You get exclusive access to our programme of field meetings, which are not open to the public.  These run throughout the year and are led by our members.  They are mostly to local sites of interest that are within Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.
